How to get to Amsterdam from Schiphol

 

You can find the train station in Schiphol Airport right below the terminal building. The train ride from Schiphol to Amsterdam Central Station takes about 14-17 minutes. If you buy the Amsterdam Travel Ticket, you can travel to Amsterdam city centre from Schiphol and take as many metro, bus and tram rides as you like for 24 hours.

Go to the beach: Zandvoort aan Zee

Fancy a trip to the sea? From Amsterdam, the beach town of Zandvoort is just half an hour away. Getting there by train from Schiphol airport will take you just under an hour. To get to Zandvoort, take the train from Schiphol in the direction of Amsterdam Central Station and change at Amsterdam Sloterdijk or Amsterdam Central. From here, the Sprinter train takes you the Zandvoort aan Zee station in 25 to 30 minutes.

Want to see more of the Netherlands? As the country is not very big and boasts fast train connections, it’s easy to get around to some of its most beautiful and popular cities – whether for a day or for a weekend. These cities are all less than an hour away from Schiphol Airport.

From Schiphol to Rotterdam

The fastest direct trains get you from Schiphol to Rotterdam, the second biggest city in the Netherlands with one of the world’s biggest harbours, in just over 30 minutes. The city is 60 km away and regular Intercity trains or car rides will take closer to an hour. Go to Rotterdam if you want to experience one of the most modern cities in the Netherlands.

From Schiphol to Leiden

Leiden is a picturesque city southwest of Amsterdam and Schiphol. Stroll along the canals and admire the windmills, parks, and wooden bridges. The city is easily accessed by train: The Intercity train from Schiphol Airport to Leiden Central Station takes just 16 minutes, the Sprinter no more than 22 minutes. Being just 28 km away from Schiphol, Leiden can also be reached by car via the A4 in about 30 minutes.

From Schiphol to Utrecht

The historic city of Utrecht is well worth a visit. Located southeast of Amsterdam, you can travel to this popular city by train with stops in Amsterdam South and Amsterdam Bijlmer ArenA. The train ride with the Intercity from Schiphol takes about 30 minutes. The city is about 50 km from the Airport and can also be reached by car via the A2 motorway.
